The IEEE Computer Society started the Asilomar Microcomputer Workshop (AMW) in 1975.

An article by Fred Coury about this first workshop (Advanced Architecture and Applications of Microcomputers) appeared in the January 1976 issue of the society’s monthly Computer magazine. Fred Coury was one of the 4 founders of AMW, the first Program Chair, and the originator of the notorious Thursday evening open discussion RAT session. Fred will join us at the 50th AMW on April 24-26, 2024.
